1. Product Introduction
1.1 Product Description
In fluid statics, the metacenter is an important point to consider when evaluating the stability of a floating body. Stability refers to the ability of a ship to right itself from an inclined position. The metacenter is the intersection of the buoyancy vector and the axis of symmetry of the ship at a certain heel.
The Human Floating Study can be used to study the stability of a floating body and determine the metacenter graphically. In addition, the buoyancy of a floating body can be determined. The experiment is easy to set up and is particularly suitable for practical work in groups.
The experiment is carried out in a water tank filled with water, or optionally in an experimental flume of the Fluid Foundation Module. A transparent body with a rectangular frame section is used as a floating body. The clamping weights that can be moved horizontally and vertically allow the center of gravity and inclination to be adjusted.
The position of the clamping weights can be read on the scale. The inclinometer indicates the inclination.
1.2 Product Features
(1) It can study the stability of the floating body and determine the metacentre of the floating body. By adjusting the position of the weight, the equilibrium state of the floating body after being disturbed can be simulated, and the metacentre position of the floating body can be analyzed.
(2) The transparent floating body can be used to visually observe the state of the floating body in the water. The floating body has a rectangular frame cross-section, which is convenient for observing its center of gravity and metacentre.
(3) It is equipped with a horizontally movable clamping weight to adjust the inclination of the floating body and simulate different disturbance conditions. By changing the position of the horizontal weight, the center of gravity position of the floating body can be adjusted.
(4) It is equipped with a vertically movable clamping weight to adjust the center of gravity position of the floating body. By changing the position of the vertical weight, the equilibrium state of the floating body under different loading conditions can be simulated.
(5) It is equipped with an inclinometer to display the inclination angle of the floating body. The scale on the inclinometer can accurately read the inclination angle of the floating body.
